Light Inspired Retreat at Warthan Farms | Orange County NY Photographer
In October, I hopped on a plane early one Friday morning before the sun even rose to embark on an adventure. Before I share with you the images I took while on this adventure, let me tell you how it all began.
I have been a member of the wonderful community of Light Inspired since December 2012. Through this community, I have built friendships and learned so much about photography and running a business. When the Light Inspired Retreat at Warthan Farms in Waverly, Virginia was announced early last year, I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to meet all of the wonderful and talented ladies that I had been chatting with online.
I flew out of Stewart Airport. You know it is a small airport when the person that checks you in at the ticket counter is the same person at the boarding gate to get on the plane. All the passengers for the flight had arrived early so we took off early, and I landed in Philadelphia just in time to see the sun rise. There, I met up with two other NY photographers and we took the flight to Richmond, Virginia together.
Once we arrived at Richmond, we met up with more Light Inspired ladies and we rented a van to drive to Waverly. After an hour of driving we arrived at the farm, those who drove from the south joined us and the fun began. I met Jennifer Warthan, the owner of Warthan Farms Photography, as soon as we got there and I could not have felt more at home. The Cottage is amazing! Of course, the weekend included a lot of photography talk, but it also included a trip to the antique shops, some delicious food (holy goodness is southern cooking amazing!!! Thanks to Denise and Jennifer!) and just some good old girl gabbing.

On the last night of the retreat, Jennifer had set up an extended family session for a surprise engagement. It was so fun to capture that amazing moment! Of course, what better way to get engaged than in front of over a dozen professional photographers.
