It is that time again for the monthly installment of my 10 on 10 blog circle with the group of fabulously talented ladies I have met in my photographic journey.  Take a look at my favorite 10 images from the past month, then click on the link below to follow around in the circle.

This month I decided to choose images I have taken of the sunrise and sunset.  There is something so peaceful about watching that big ball of fire rise right out of the ocean.

All of the sunrise images were taken at Seaside Park, NJ.  Just 9 short months ago, Superstorm Sandy barreled right through these beaches.  The devastation is tremendous.  Most of the boardwalks have been rebuilt and the dunes have been set again, but the piers are still in the process of being taken down and rebuilt.  In those first few months after the storm, the pictures of the roller coaster in the ocean were everywhere.  It really didn't hit me until we drove Route 35 North from Seaside Park to Point Pleasant, the massive impact on the residences along the ocean.  Many of the dead end roads that lead to the beach on the east of Route 35 are still closed.  You can see where the water level rose to on some of the houses with the big red X's in the windows where they just stand since being tossed by the storm.  It was calming to really soak in the sunrise after seeing such devastation.  A new day means one step closer to to rebuilding.

It is amazing how fast the colors of the sky change just before sunrise until after.  This image was 10 minutes before the sunrise. 

I played with my shutter speed to get the smoothing of the waves crashing. Those well known landmarks that we saw just last summer are gone... I love by changing perspective, how the sky becomes a dramatic player in this image. This sunset was taken on the bay.
